Here we go with the results from the remix contest for Geste’s track “Eating Concrete”.
First of all, thanks to everybody taking part in the contest and sending in their versions. We decided to post 8 remixes on the Equinox soundcloud account of which we thought they were exciting and had a unique sound.
We couldn’t really decide who should win the contest and so we thought that it should be a double first place between the Russian producer team Demokracy (feat. Didjelirium) and the French producers Turn Steak. Congratulations to both of you!!
The Demokracy team really surprised us with the dope vocal additions by Didjelirium. A sensitive approach we all fell in love with, not only remixing but also extending the original track’s atmosphere. “Eating concrete is the sole remedy for those suffering from a deadly allergy to softness “. Damn sure:
We also loved the Turnsteak remix because of the nice sounds and overall fatness. Smashing the dancefloor, with a unique smart-ass attitude. Nasty & Clever:
We are sure both winner tracks could be DJ favourites… As for the price, an official release on Equinox Records, we are not sure yet how it will look like but we will definitely keep you in the loop! Maybe we will even do a very limited vinyl release for this! We’ll see!
Then, we also decided for a double 2nd place between dupstep producer Audhentik from Germany and the Stalk / Signal2 team from France. We hope you will be on the official (digital) release as well! Audhentik’s remix was the most aggressive dubstep remix we received. So much anger it’s gonna nail you down to the ground. Signal2′s version was straight in your face. Awesome binary approach & clubbing vibes. Thumbs up! Here are all remixes together:
So yeah. That’s it for now! Thanks again to everybody being part of this!

Unfortunately, the vinyl lovers will still have to wait another week to get the release – however, those will get a dope sounding limited 12″ with picture sleeve that includes the vinyl only extended version of “Ladderz“. Please see a list of shoplinks below where you can already pre-order the vinyl…
ALSO – we are super excited to share the brand new video for “Eating Concrete” with you. Today, we want to start the first official remix contest on Equinox. The track we chose to have remixed, “Eating Concrete”, is the title track of Geste‘s upcoming new EP on Equinox Records (dropping on March 25th) which you can check out here:
We thought we would give everyone the opportunity to remix this powerful song and give upcoming (and also established?) producers the chance and win a release on Equinox Records or Equinox.Digital as well as some other goodies. The layers should work for many different styles: Electro, Electronica, Dubstep, Glitch-Hop, whatever you feel like…
Taking part in this remix contest is really easy – just download the files below and then send in your remix within the given time frame!

The original song and all layers are 129 bpm!
Rules to enter the contest:
- Deadline is Mai 6th, 2011
- Send your remix as higher res mp3 to contest @ e-q-x.net as e-mail attachment. Please let us know your artist name, real name and where you are from.

Geste ist playing his first live set in London on August 20 at the Bardens Boudoir.
Apart from his performance, a band called “Introducing” will replay “Endtroducing” by DJ Shadow:
“Take the idea of the “world’s first completely sampled album” and turn it around by playing the whole thing live. It’s hard to imagine that it’s now over a decade since DJ Shadow released his classic debut album ‘Endtroducing’ – an album that inspired a generation of musicians. Now, for the first time ever in the U.K – a complete, note for note live band reworking of DJ Shadow’s classic masterpiece, performed Live by Introducing, a 10 Piece London based outfit dedicated to recreating the entire experience.
This is going to be special !”

It’s never to late for a good review:
Germany’s leading electronica magazine De:Bug has just written a few nice words about Geste’s “Jaw Breaker“ release. It’s written in German and kind of difficult to translate, but here go with a portion of the review:
“Eleborately designed 12″ in milky transparent vinyl with a poster and tracks that live up to it’s name. Brutal breaks, mean baroque synth melodies, burring basslines and an exuberant terror flair which is almost making one weep for joy… Monster.”
If you can read German, check the original review right here:
So, don’t sleep on getting this record!!

Geste is featured on the new CD Compilation of the French Trax Magazine with one tune of his Jaw Breaker EP. Here is what they wrote about “Ohm Sick”:
“Electronica, post rock, résidus de rock noisy et de hip hop instrumental: geste navigue avec aisance entre les genres, évouqant parfois le talent d’un nathan fake.”
