Random News #13
Hi and welcome to our Random News #13
It has been a while since our last issue but we will try to keep this as short as possible.
Let’s go…
About a year ago, Equinox founder, DJ Scientist was filmed diggin’ records in Berlin for Diggin Is A Science. A few weeks ago, it was finally published on YouTube!
Enjoy and share!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trxSuVUVIRg
More importantly, his new project together with Fulgeance is about to be released this year in form of a single and full length album.
DJ Scientist dug out a haul of rare samples for the French MPC virtuoso Fulgeance (one half of Souleance) who transformed the source material into one of the most exciting beat maker projects this year: ‘The Soviet Tape‘.
A first single, ‘Moscow Nightlife‘, will be released in late September / early october on First Word Records from the UK and is aimed squarely at the DJs and the diggers with three dope instrumental Hip-Hop tracks.
On the album, you can expect more fire from Fulgeance and DJ Scientist’s beat arsenal as well as some dope features by the likes of Blu, Open Mike Eagle, Distant Starr and more!

Next up, we’ve got a fantastic new video of 2econd class citizen performing “Here Comes The Sun“!

Finally, we’d like to close this issue with a smooth and mellow Equinox Records tribute radio show by DJ Slow Pete, where he plays a few of his favorite tunes including music by DiViNCi, DJ Scientist, Emynd, 2econd class citizen, Deckard and many others.

Deckard – Soundscapes – Free Download
Great news for all Deckard fans out there!
As you may have noticed, Deckard has been ultra-busy lately, by having released 2 full lengths, a 12″ and a 7″ in less than one year, but yet, he strikes again!
This time he brings out an even darker side with his “Soundscapes”. This mini-album includes 3 tracks (over 26 minutes in total) of pure dark ambience, composed in a dreamy and cinematic way, making this truly unique… “Illbient” as he puts it all in one word, this comes as a free download (with “name your price” option incase you’d like to support) through his bandcamp page and also as a full stream via his soundcloud page. Links for both below.
Spread the word!

New Album Release By Deckard – Preview Single Out Now!
As we already announced it last week, Deckard is about to release a nice second album called “Echoes From The Past” in early September as a super limited vinyl release (more info soon) as well as a digital release.
Today, we would like to share a free single for you which is now available via Deckard‘s Bandcamp page right here:
http://dasdeckard.bandcamp.com/
“Defunked“, the first track on the single, is a quite unusual track for Deckard and is a bit more upbeat than his other stuff. In contrast to this – for all the downbeat lovers – the second track of the single, “Slow Body Movement“, is more in his usual style. We hope you like it!
Additionally, here’s the stream of three album tracks:
Find more about the release right here:
http://www.e-q-x.net/releases/eqx041
A Special Pre-Order for the album will start soon that will additionally contain a bonus CD album by Deckard called “Untergrund und Subkultur“. „Echoes From The Past“ is released as part of the two-piece “Unheard & Recovered” series on Equinox Records. Part 2 of the series will be the unreleased solo full length by DJ Scientist, an equally deep and meticulously produced album with great unheard material from his archives.
Be on the lookout!

The Small Minority *DJ Food Megamix*
——————————————————————————————————————————–
The first preview of “The Small Minority” came almost a month ago, and – in our opinion – in the best from…
Our colleague and good friend, Strictly Kev a.k.a. DJ Food of Ninja Tunes Records who has always been a keen supporter of 2econd Class Citizen and of our Label, has made an amazing Megamix in which he has cut, edited and mixed the album tracks skillfully to fit 16 minutes, making this the perfect promotional tool for the album (thank you S.K.)
Here is the mix as posted on DJ Food’s website:
http://www.djfood.org/djfood/2econd-class-citizen-album-preview-megamix
Speaking of the 2CC / DJ Food collaboration…
If you haven’t yet heard, here’s a 2econd Class Citizen remix for DJ Food’s “The-Illectrik-Hoax” released in April on Ninja Tune:

Lyrics:
güneşim ayım sana ışık olsun
sıcak kumum yoluna açık olsun
okşarım tenini rüzgarlarımla
susuz kaldı sularım dudaklarına
ah o gözlerin
arasın beni izlesin peşime düşsün
ah o dudakların
gelsin bulsun tatsin ve öpsün beni
al bulutlarım sana yatak olsun
yumuşacık sessizce üstünü örtsün
ateşim aşkına kıvılcım olsun
sonsuz yansın yüreğinde hayata doysun
güneşim ayım sana ışık olsun
sıcak kumum yoluna açık olsun
okşarım tenini rüzgarlarımla
susuz kaldı sularım dudaklarına
