Greetings and welcome to Random News #10.
We’ve “missed” a couple of issues due to a great overload of work, and yet, some things that should be included on this issue may have passed our notice, but this is only natural since we are currently working on the “Counter Future” project which is our biggest so far and consists of 2 12inch EPs, a 3LP full length album, a flexi disc release as well as some other stuff.
Speaking of Counter Future, let’s begin this issue with a short notice to inform all Last.fm users that the Counter Future EP is now available there:
As you know, the Counter Future EP is also available on vinyl, split on two beautiful etched 12inch pressing, and is available in our shop. But that’s not the only nice item you can buy there. You should definitely check the beautiful vinyl postcards by 2econd class citizen and Glen Porter on the Postmanslove label which are now on stock:
Next, we’d like to switch to some news about our artist, Godblesscomputers, starting with a nice review on his newly released EP, “Freedom Is OK”, on HHV magazine:
Staying with Godblesscomputers, we’d like to share the news of his brand new remix release on Fresh Yo!, named “Lost in downtown (The Beastie Boys re-works)” and, as appears on the title, this release includes 7 amazing classics by the Beastie Boys as re-worked by Gbc.
This is set to a “name-your-price” deal which means you can get it for free if you type zero (0). Though, we highly recommend that you support the artist and label.
You can listen and/or get it, here:
Finally, Indaba music has launched a remix contest in which Godblesscomputers remixes Sweatson Klank‘s “I Shouldn’t Be Here (Feat. Ango)“. Listen to this nice tune, here:
Moving on to the “Phantasma EP” by Playpad Circus which got a nice extensive review on Popshot. Read the review (German only) here:
Now, before we close this issue with some news about our label, we would like to share information about DJ Food’s amazing “The Search Engine” which is finally available on a beautiful 4LP (gatefold cover). You can read more about the release –which features Equinox artist 2econd Class Citizen – on the official release page, here:
To close this issue, we’d like to share a very nice feature* that Der Brutkasten did about Equinox Records. Read this, here:
*This is written in German, but we tried it out and it works (almost) perfect with Google’s translator.
To view this in DE to EN translation mode, cclick HERE
So… That’s it for now. Thanks for reading and if we’ve missed anything that should have been included, please send it in and we’ll include it on our next issue.

The Small Minority *DJ Food Megamix*
The first preview of “The Small Minority” came almost a month ago, and – in our opinion – in the best from…
Our colleague and good friend, Strictly Kev a.k.a. DJ Food of Ninja Tunes Records who has always been a keen supporter of 2econd Class Citizen and of our Label, has made an amazing Megamix in which he has cut, edited and mixed the album tracks skillfully to fit 16 minutes, making this the perfect promotional tool for the album (thank you S.K.)
Here is the mix as posted on DJ Food’s website:
Speaking of the 2CC / DJ Food collaboration…
If you haven’t yet heard, here’s a 2econd Class Citizen remix for DJ Food’s “The-Illectrik-Hoax” released in April on Ninja Tune:

Today, we are really proud to announce a preview of 2econd Class Citizen‘s album in the form of a megamix from none other than Strictly Kev aka DJ Food of Ninja Tune Records. Taking ‘The Small Minority‘, cutting it down to size and fitting it into a 16 minute mix was no mean feat, but he managed to pull it off effortlessly and with the skill you have become accustom to if you have ever heard a DJ Food mix.
A keen supporter of 2econd Class Citizen and our label over the years. He’s always had the time to do a nice write up in his blog www.djfood.org and help us in any way he can. So without any further ado make sure you check this great 16 minute mix on Strictly Kev‘s soundcloud page or download it on our bandcamp page where you can additionally pre-order the album. The album will drop on May 25th and is distributed via Kudos (Worldwide) and Fake Four Inc. (USA, Japan).

Here we are with our new issue of Random News for April 2012!
Lot’s been going on and we are all working brutally hard to get the best out of it, so we’ll be swift and on point! (Ok, consider this “brutally” part as a joke – we’re actually enjoying this!)
Let’s begin with some news for 2econd Class Citizen since there’s a lot going on due to the release of his outstanding “Outside Your Doorway EP” and the long-anticipated full length “The Small Minority” which will drop next month (!)…
Outside Your Doorway EP news
About a week ago, we announced the release of the digital version for 2CC‘s new EP entitled “Outside Your Doorway” and we’re already getting some amazing feedback.
Here’s a small portion of what’s been said:
Trippin’ The Rift
Also note that “Outside Your Doorway” is now available on Last FM
Aside from that we have gained some really positive feedback from a bunch of like minded artists that really enjoyed the new album:
“Really lovely moments on here. Nice…”
Fink (Ninja Tune)
“Your Album sounds great, congratulations! I definitely want to check out your record collection as you obviously had some crazy stuff!”
“okay man, I gotta tell you: your album is fucking BEAUTIFUL. I’m in love with it already. So lush! I’m about 2/3 in but I just thought I’d ‘live text’ it! Incredible work brother.“
“I’m loving your album so much, the layers and subtleties in it are amazing. The pace is generally slow and the mood melancholy but it never feels morose or depressing, there’s a kind of beautiful sadness to it, and such gorgeous acoustic samples.”
DJ Food (Ninja Tune)
“Great work! Proper chilly out sample loveliness!”
Olli Teeba (Herbaliser, Ninja Tune)
Last (but not least), the main track of the EP is also featured on “Tape of The Month: April 2012” on “Παλιοτράκτερα” (ok, this may seem Greek to you but still on point)
Additional 2econd Class Citizen news…
In the past Random News issue (#2 March 2012) we mentioned DJ Food’s new album “The Search Engine” in which 2CC is featured… Well, here’s an astonishing new single from this album, entitled “The Illectrik Hoax” which also features a remix by 2econd Class Citizen.
Switching to DJ Scientist
First, we’d like to share an amazing remix that DJ Scientist did back in 2003 for the track “It Ain’t Nothing Like” by The Pharcyde. This remix also reveals the – unknown to most – funky side of the Equinox Records’ founder!
Listen, download and share.
Continuing, here is a really nice review on DEAD Magazine for the rare (even digitally) “The Artless Cuckoo EP”
For those who missed it, this was released in February as an ultra-limited vinyl and also limited-time digital release, as an announcement for DJ Scientist’s upcoming full length instrumental album. So be on the lookout!
Here’s the official “Artless Cuckoo” release page: http://www.e-q-x.net/releases/eqx034/
David Vangel news
Here is a very nice feature of our artist David Vangel from Canada on Restorm.
Also, if you haven’t heard yet, Vangel’s website has been recently updated and also includes an e-shop (!)

Just a few days ago, we launched the brand new episode of our podcast series, Random Seed.
Read more about, listen and/or download this episode, here:
And now, for closure, we’d like to share this nice commercial video about Rhone Runner which features Geste’s “Eating Concrete” (Signal² Remix) from the “Re-Think Concrete” release!
Even the fiercest music on our label fits nicely to any kind of commercial! … So, if you would like to licence/use music from our catalogue, just get in touch with us.
We’d like to thank you for reading this (quite bigger than expected) issue and, as always, if we’ve missed anything, please send it in and we’ll include it on our next issue.

A lot has been going on lately – new works are on the final process, a full schedule ahead and basically, all creativity is breaking loose!
Therefore, we had to skip February’s issue and we apologize for that, but you’ll soon find out it was worth it, we promise.
Now, back on track… Here is the 2nd “Random News” feed.
We’d like to begin with Deckard’s Debut Album, “For A Better Tomorrow” which has been getting a lot of high-rated reviews lately (!)

Moving on, we’d like to share a wonderfully made, “Beatles Remixes EP” by our artist, David Vangel , which is offered as a free download. More info on David’s website*
*Speaking of David’s website… if you haven’t yet heard, he recently launched his very own e-shop!
Feel free to navigate.
Also, David Vangel’s “Sandpaper Script” from the “Breadth Control” album, is featured on DJ Food’s “Solid Steel mix”, alongside with DJ Format!
Did we say DJ Food? We sure did!
Y’all be sure to check out his new album, “The Search Engine” on Ninja Tune
A great album which also features 2econd Class Citizen on one track.
Next up, we have two new videos, launched in February
First one is “Bad Captain Swag” by Sole & The Skyrider Band, from the “Hello Cruel World” album, which is a beautiful futuristic Sci-Fi video, directed by Kieth Kadera and produced by Randy Greenback. Here it is, as featured on MtvIggy
And finally we’d like to close this issue with this new video from “The One Man Band Broke Up” album by Ceschi & DJ Scientist, titled “Lament for Captain Julius”, directed and edited by Ray Willis and starring Alexander Esparza and Ceschi Ramos
That would be all for now. It’s almost certain we may have missed a thing or two but, as said earlier, we’re hard-working on our upcoming releases, so be on the lookout for more news very-very soon!
Cheers to all y’all and stay tuned!
the Equinox Records team.

A few weeks ago, during the Autumn Sale in our store, Strictly Kev has posted some nice pictures and words about Equinox Records on his DJ Food website. As Kev being one of the main designers and art directors for Ninja Tune since the beginning, this, of course, is a big honour for us. Check the pictures out right here:
