Ceschi – Same Old Love Song feat. 2Mex and Awol One – Official Video
FINALLY, as DJ Scientist announced a week ago on his facebook page, here’s the “lost” video for “Same Old Love Song” by Ceschi, a track that was released on our label as a beautiful picture disc in 2009.
The song is featuring 2Mex and Awol One alongside Ceschi on the vocals, and the music is produced by DJ Scientist.
The video is directed by Outlier, and though it had some initial corruption issues that delayed its release for a long time, it has now found its way out!
Enjoy and please share if you like it.

DJ Scientist – For Better, For Worse – Vinyl Out Now
Since last week friday, DJ Scientist‘s debut solo album, “For Better, For Worse” is finally out on vinyl!
A special thanks goes out to anyone that has pre-ordered. Those that did pre-order the bundle version with the 7inch (of which exactly 102 hand numbered vinyl copies exist) will be awarded by receiving the ultra limited embossed edition. Only the first 52 copies of the bundle came with the embossed cover that you can see on the images below (those were the numbers 001 to 050 as well as the numberes 101 and 102 to be exact). All other copies are without the embossing but still look incredibly nice. Just check the pictures and let them speak for themselves:
The 7inch features a really weird but great psych rock track by Julius The Bearded Saviour (the ficticious character that Ceschi is talking about on “The One Man Band Broke Up“), produced by The Raincoatman (a.k.a. DJ Scientist). The track was originally called “A Prayer For Princess Pussylips” but was changed to “The Artless Prayer“, a reference to DJ Scientist‘s EP “The Artless Cuckoo” on which a different and instrumental version of the track can be found under the name “Coated Suits & Marshmallows“.
The release additionally includes a 3-page letter to Julius The Bearded Saviour‘s son.
Look for the shoplinks at the end of this post as well as the audio previews on our embedded soundcloud player below.

A few words about the album…
“For Better, For Worse” is the debut album by DJ Scientist, the founder and head of the Equinox Records label. The music on the album was produced between 2001 and 2006 and offers a unique, fully-sample based instrumental body of work that, even 6 years after its originally scheduled release date, has the power to spellbind and steer the listener into the widespread musical world of one of Germany’s most passionate record collectors and artist.
——————————————————————————————————————————–
——————————————————————————————————————————–
All the tracks on the album show the musical power that resides in the “instrumental hip hop” genre, for lack of a better word. Despite the time it took to make and release, or perhaps precisely because of it, the album defines Scientist’s talent and knowledge as a sample-based musician.

DJ Scientist – 10 Albums That Influenced “For Better For Worse”
A few weeks ago, as the final preparations for the official release of his new album “For Better, For Worse” were taking place, DJ Scientist was asked to put together a list for DEAD Magazine’s “DEAD Lists”. His final selection includes 10 records that have been relevant in some way or another for the development of his music and the album.——————————————————————————————————————————–

——————————————————————————————————————————–
The first part of the list (out of 10 parts in total – one for each album) was published on October 1st and, since then, it has been updated on a regular basis. Today though, DJ Scientist added the last – and first in order – record on his list.
Here’s the link to this nicely presented list in its complete form:

As time draws near for DJ Scientist’s debut solo album “For Better, For Worse.”, that drops in late October, we have prepared the first single “Raincoatman”. The release contains the original version, which is his already classic tune, a brand new remix by Andreikelos, the unreleased heavy beat-driven track “Nightdrive Memories” as well as the previously released DJ Sept Remix of “Raincoatman“!
——————————————————————————————————————————–
Though the single’s official release date is set for October 5th, DJ Scientist put it up directly on his own Bandcamp page as a very special and limited free download which will last for one week only. Then, the single will be taken down and re-appear for sale on the original release date (October 5th). So, grab it while it is available now!
Here’s the link to the free download:
http://djscientist.bandcamp.com/album/raincoatman
Additionally, the single track can also be found for streaming on soundcloud:

——————————————————————————————————————————–
A few words about the release…
“Raincoatman” is instrumental Hip-Hop at its very best – rarely are there songs that can express melancholy and beauty with such perfection.
Additionally, the slowed down remix by the immensely talented Greek producer Andreikelos, who recently made a lot of noise with his “Euryphaessa EP”, adds an even deeper vibe to this captivating tune.
Next, the meticulously constructed album track “Nightdrive Memories” showcases Scientist’s production and arrangement skills. Another great remix of “Raincoatman” by DJ Sept is concluding the single, a track which previously has been released by Equinox on his remix EP.

Random News #3 (April 2012)
Here we are with our new issue of Random News for April 2012!
Lot’s been going on and we are all working brutally hard to get the best out of it, so we’ll be swift and on point! (Ok, consider this “brutally” part as a joke – we’re actually enjoying this!)
Let’s begin with some news for 2econd Class Citizen since there’s a lot going on due to the release of his outstanding “Outside Your Doorway EP” and the long-anticipated full length “The Small Minority” which will drop next month (!)…
——————————————————————————————————————————–

Outside Your Doorway EP news
About a week ago, we announced the release of the digital version for 2CC‘s new EP entitled “Outside Your Doorway” and we’re already getting some amazing feedback.
Here’s a small portion of what’s been said:
Trippin’ The Rift
http://trippintherift.com/en/archives/2271
Data Transmission
http://www.datatransmission.co.uk/ViewReview/3161/
Also note that “Outside Your Doorway” is now available on Last FM
http://www.lastfm.de/music/2econd+Class+Citizen/Outside+Your+Doorway+EP
Aside from that we have gained some really positive feedback from a bunch of like minded artists that really enjoyed the new album:
“Really lovely moments on here. Nice…”
Fink (Ninja Tune)
“Your Album sounds great, congratulations! I definitely want to check out your record collection as you obviously had some crazy stuff!”
DJ Format
“okay man, I gotta tell you: your album is fucking BEAUTIFUL. I’m in love with it already. So lush! I’m about 2/3 in but I just thought I’d ‘live text’ it! Incredible work brother.“
Buddy Peace
“I’m loving your album so much, the layers and subtleties in it are amazing. The pace is generally slow and the mood melancholy but it never feels morose or depressing, there’s a kind of beautiful sadness to it, and such gorgeous acoustic samples.”
DJ Food (Ninja Tune)
“Great work! Proper chilly out sample loveliness!”
Olli Teeba (Herbaliser, Ninja Tune)
Last (but not least), the main track of the EP is also featured on “Tape of The Month: April 2012” on “Παλιοτράκτερα” (ok, this may seem Greek to you but still on point)

Additional 2econd Class Citizen news…
In the past Random News issue (#2 March 2012) we mentioned DJ Food’s new album “The Search Engine” in which 2CC is featured… Well, here’s an astonishing new single from this album, entitled “The Illectrik Hoax” which also features a remix by 2econd Class Citizen.

First, we’d like to share an amazing remix that DJ Scientist did back in 2003 for the track “It Ain’t Nothing Like” by The Pharcyde. This remix also reveals the – unknown to most – funky side of the Equinox Records’ founder!
Listen, download and share.

Continuing, here is a really nice review on DEAD Magazine for the rare (even digitally) “The Artless Cuckoo EP”

For those who missed it, this was released in February as an ultra-limited vinyl and also limited-time digital release, as an announcement for DJ Scientist’s upcoming full length instrumental album. So be on the lookout!

Ceschi – Black And White And Red All Over – Andreikelos Remix

As a special Silvester treat, we decided to release an exclusive remix of Ceschi’s song “Black And White And Red All Over” by Greek producer Andreikelos.
With this new version, Andreikelos provides us with a darker and more electronic perspective of the song, but still tries to maintain a portion of the romantic and melancholic feel of the original – DJ Scientist produced – version.
You can download the release for free via our bandcamp account:

Random Seed Podcast Episode 2 by SCNTST & SNTC
Random Seed is back with a great new mix put together by Equinox Founder himself DJ Scientist – aka SCNTST in this case – and his old DJ buddy and friend SNTC aka Snatchatec (of the Deckpackers crew).
The Random Seed podcast series started last year with a mix by Andreikelos from Greece. However, due to lack of time, the continuation of the series was postponed. Anyway, we hope you enjoy this new podcast with some dirty and grimey as well as some more mellow beats. There is some instrumental hip-hop, some dubstep, some glitch in there, and even some crunk! Furthermore, this mix is the first one that features the dope new Random Seed introduction beat by our main man Phonatic who already provided us with great remixes for Ceschi and 2econd Class Citizen as well as his amazing Equinox Megamix in 2010.
Random Seed Episode 2 by SCNTST & SNTC by Equinox Records
Tracklist:
1. Phonatic – Random Seed Theme (Equinox Records)
2. Free The Robots – Young And Yet Too Old (All City)
3. Kubus – In Je Graff (Bloom)
4. CX Kidtronik – I Want That (Sound-Ink)
5. Eprom – Humanoid (Rwina)
6. Rustie – Hyperthrust (Warp)
7. Robot Koch – Heal (feat. John La Monica) (Project: Mooncircle)
8. Glen Porter – Transient (Live Self Remix) (Inner Current Recordings)
9. Jellybass – Loop Da Loop (LoHz)
10. Jellybass – Liquid Metal (LoHz)
11. Maker – Romance (Bully Records)
The next podcast is already finished and will be by DJ Cannikz – so stay tuned and follow us on mixcloud.com/randomseed. If you want to contribute a mix to our podcast series please use the Equinox Records dropbox via soundcloud.com/equinoxrecords and upload a file of your mix. Otherwise you can get in touch with randomseed //at// e-q-x.net. The length of the mix should be at least 20 minutes and should contain good music, mixed well and tight. The mix also has to be exclusive for our series.
