Also don’t miss the FREE DOWNLOAD by Andreikelos as well as the contest to win copies of the specially designed flexi discs by Geste from the Counter Future series!

Random News #3 (April 2012)
Here we are with our new issue of Random News for April 2012!
Lot’s been going on and we are all working brutally hard to get the best out of it, so we’ll be swift and on point! (Ok, consider this “brutally” part as a joke – we’re actually enjoying this!)
Let’s begin with some news for 2econd Class Citizen since there’s a lot going on due to the release of his outstanding “Outside Your Doorway EP” and the long-anticipated full length “The Small Minority” which will drop next month (!)…
——————————————————————————————————————————–
Outside Your Doorway EP news
About a week ago, we announced the release of the digital version for 2CC‘s new EP entitled “Outside Your Doorway” and we’re already getting some amazing feedback.
Here’s a small portion of what’s been said:
Trippin’ The Rift
http://trippintherift.com/en/archives/2271
Data Transmission
http://www.datatransmission.co.uk/ViewReview/3161/
Also note that “Outside Your Doorway” is now available on Last FM
http://www.lastfm.de/music/2econd+Class+Citizen/Outside+Your+Doorway+EP
Aside from that we have gained some really positive feedback from a bunch of like minded artists that really enjoyed the new album:
“Really lovely moments on here. Nice…”
Fink (Ninja Tune)
“Your Album sounds great, congratulations! I definitely want to check out your record collection as you obviously had some crazy stuff!”
DJ Format
“okay man, I gotta tell you: your album is fucking BEAUTIFUL. I’m in love with it already. So lush! I’m about 2/3 in but I just thought I’d ‘live text’ it! Incredible work brother.“
Buddy Peace
“I’m loving your album so much, the layers and subtleties in it are amazing. The pace is generally slow and the mood melancholy but it never feels morose or depressing, there’s a kind of beautiful sadness to it, and such gorgeous acoustic samples.”
DJ Food (Ninja Tune)
“Great work! Proper chilly out sample loveliness!”
Olli Teeba (Herbaliser, Ninja Tune)
Last (but not least), the main track of the EP is also featured on “Tape of The Month: April 2012” on “Παλιοτράκτερα” (ok, this may seem Greek to you but still on point)

Additional 2econd Class Citizen news…
In the past Random News issue (#2 March 2012) we mentioned DJ Food’s new album “The Search Engine” in which 2CC is featured… Well, here’s an astonishing new single from this album, entitled “The Illectrik Hoax” which also features a remix by 2econd Class Citizen.
Find out more about it here:

——————————————————————————————————————————–
Switching to DJ Scientist
First, we’d like to share an amazing remix that DJ Scientist did back in 2003 for the track “It Ain’t Nothing Like” by The Pharcyde. This remix also reveals the – unknown to most – funky side of the Equinox Records’ founder!
Listen, download and share.

Continuing, here is a really nice review on DEAD Magazine for the rare (even digitally) “The Artless Cuckoo EP”
http://www.deadmagazine.de/2012/04/07/dj-scientist-the-artless-cuckoo-ep/
For those who missed it, this was released in February as an ultra-limited vinyl and also limited-time digital release, as an announcement for DJ Scientist’s upcoming full length instrumental album. So be on the lookout!

Geste – The Eating Concrete Remix Contest Results
Here we go with the results from the remix contest for Geste’s track “Eating Concrete”.
First of all, thanks to everybody taking part in the contest and sending in their versions. We decided to post 8 remixes on the Equinox soundcloud account of which we thought they were exciting and had a unique sound.
We couldn’t really decide who should win the contest and so we thought that it should be a double first place between the Russian producer team Demokracy (feat. Didjelirium) and the French producers Turn Steak. Congratulations to both of you!!
The Demokracy team really surprised us with the dope vocal additions by Didjelirium. A sensitive approach we all fell in love with, not only remixing but also extending the original track’s atmosphere. “Eating concrete is the sole remedy for those suffering from a deadly allergy to softness “. Damn sure:
Geste – Eating Concrete (Demokracy & didjelirium Re-Think) – 1st Place #1 by Equinox Records
We also loved the Turnsteak remix because of the nice sounds and overall fatness. Smashing the dancefloor, with a unique smart-ass attitude. Nasty & Clever:
Geste – Eating Concrete (TuRnStEaK Remix) – 1st Place #2 by Equinox Records
We are sure both winner tracks could be DJ favourites… As for the price, an official release on Equinox Records, we are not sure yet how it will look like but we will definitely keep you in the loop! Maybe we will even do a very limited vinyl release for this! We’ll see!
Then, we also decided for a double 2nd place between dupstep producer Audhentik from Germany and the Stalk / Signal2 team from France. We hope you will be on the official (digital) release as well! Audhentik’s remix was the most aggressive dubstep remix we received. So much anger it’s gonna nail you down to the ground. Signal2′s version was straight in your face. Awesome binary approach & clubbing vibes. Thumbs up! Here are all remixes together:
Geste – The “Eating Concrete” REMIX CONTEST WINNERS by Equinox Records
So yeah. That’s it for now! Thanks again to everybody being part of this!

Geste – The Eating Concrete Remix Contest
Today, we want to start the first official remix contest on Equinox. The track we chose to have remixed, “Eating Concrete”, is the title track of Geste‘s upcoming new EP on Equinox Records (dropping on March 25th) which you can check out here:
http://www.e-q-x.net/releases/geste-eating-concrete-ep/
We thought we would give everyone the opportunity to remix this powerful song and give upcoming (and also established?) producers the chance and win a release on Equinox Records or Equinox.Digital as well as some other goodies. The layers should work for many different styles: Electro, Electronica, Dubstep, Glitch-Hop, whatever you feel like…
Taking part in this remix contest is really easy – just download the files below and then send in your remix within the given time frame!
Listen to the original track right here:
Geste – The “Eating Concrete” REMIX CONTEST by Equinox Records

Random Seed – The Equinox Records Music Podcast Episode I
With a fantastic mix by Andreikelos we want to start our new podcast series entitled “Random Seed”. The series will feature mixes by friends and like minded artists from around the world.
This first time, the podcast features tracks from the Equinox catalogue only. Ranging from classic tunes off the “Sound Exposure” compilation like Danny Decock’s “G.k.S.” or DJ Scientist’s “Anything About Nothing” to newer tunes like Kraddy’s “Android Porn (Mochipet Godzillaporn Remix)” and Geste’s punklike electronica, the mix gives a broad overview of the Equinox catalogue and might bring back some good memories as well as giving new impressions.
Gorgeously put together with a lot of blends, edits and drum additions this might be the best 40 minutes of music to enjoy for some late summer nights. Download now for free!

Geste live in London
Geste ist playing his first live set in London on August 20 at the Bardens Boudoir.
Apart from his performance, a band called “Introducing” will replay “Endtroducing” by DJ Shadow:
“Take the idea of the “world’s first completely sampled album” and turn it around by playing the whole thing live. It’s hard to imagine that it’s now over a decade since DJ Shadow released his classic debut album ‘Endtroducing’ – an album that inspired a generation of musicians. Now, for the first time ever in the U.K – a complete, note for note live band reworking of DJ Shadow’s classic masterpiece, performed Live by Introducing, a 10 Piece London based outfit dedicated to recreating the entire experience.
This is going to be special !”
